“Challenges of the 21st Century”

Ivanovo, Russia
Ivanovo Model United Nations Group
Dear MUN Directors,
We, Ivanovo MUN Group and ICYDA (International Cooperation and Youth Diplomacy Association), would like to formally invite you to the 19th annual conference “Challenges of the XXI century.” The Conference is to take place inIvanovo, November 22 – 24, 2011.
The objective of the Conference is to improve international relations between students fromEuropethrough constructive debate and cultural exchange. The conference will last for three days.
The Conference is to consist of 4 forums: The Ecological, Cultural Issues and Sustainable Development (ECUSUD); The Politics and International Security (POLISEC); The Humanitarian and Social Issues (HUMASI), and the Security Council (SC).
As usual each of the Committees is to be represented by 1 delegate. We’ve done our best to honor your preferences in country assignments.
To make debates more educational and fruitful, we would like to have regular lobbying which is to take place on the 1st day of the conference. Each delegate will have an opportunity to discuss the interested issue with other delegates during lobbying time and then they will present the resolution draft to the Chairs of the Committees. Further debate over the clauses is open to everyone. All schools are encouraged to have lots of individual operative clauses ready to present them during lobbying time and make resolutions out if them.
On Wednesday we would like all the delegates to take part in the Youth Forum, a renowned form of a simulation game aiming at developing language skills and creative thinking. The students are to think and to present their ideas on the topic “Empowering Model United Nations Conferences for the UN Development.” This kind of work will help the students have no fear of the foreign language and give them an opportunity of sharing their points of view with others.
Since its creation in 1992, Ivanovo Conference though having changed its name from “Russiaand the World Community” to “Challenges of the 21st Century” has become an annual tradition of productive debate, cooperation, and friendship, with each progressing year more outstanding than the last. We at Ivanovo hope to make 19th annual conference the best yet with your attendance.
